
Chennai, May 2, 2025: The AIADMK’s Executive Committee meeting was held today at the party headquarters, MGR Maaligai, under the leadership of Party General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS). A total of 16 resolutions were passed during the session, outlining the party’s political direction and expressing strong criticism against the ruling DMK government. Key highlights include:
1. Strategic Alliance for 2026 Elections
A resolution commended EPS for formulating a strategy to form a “mega alliance” under AIADMK’s leadership with like-minded parties, including BJP, aiming to defeat the common adversary DMK in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
2. Criticism of DMK’s Unfulfilled Promises
The committee condemned the DMK government for failing to fulfil 525 election promises made during the 2021 elections and for misleading the public with false information.
3. NEET Controversy
The meeting lashed out at the DMK for allegedly enacting a drama over NEET, and demanded a public apology from CM M.K. Stalin to students, parents, and the people of Tamil Nadu.
4. Condemnation of Policy Dramas
AIADMK accused the DMK government of diverting public anger through political theatrics involving language policy, education reforms, and regional autonomy, likening it to “a new stage every day, a new act every evening.”
5. Katchatheevu Issue
The party strongly criticised the DMK’s stance on Katchatheevu island, accusing it of being responsible for the island’s loss and now engaging in political theatrics to appear concerned.
6. Water Management Failures
DMK was condemned for delays in implementing AIADMK-initiated water projects and for poor water management. EPS was praised for securing central clearance for the Nadanthai Vaazhi Cauvery project, and PM Modi was thanked for funding support.
7. Minority Rights Assurance
AIADMK reaffirmed its secular identity and promised to remain a protective force for minority communities in Tamil Nadu.
8. Demand for Investment Transparency
The party demanded a white paper from the DMK government detailing the outcomes of foreign trips and Global Investors’ Meets, including actual investments, project commencements, and job creation.
9. Tax Burden on Common People
The Executive Committee condemned the DMK for increasing property tax, water tax, and garbage tax, further blaming the government for rising prices of essential goods and construction materials.
10. Support for Action Against Minister Ponmudi
EPS was praised for his initiative to take disciplinary action against Minister Ponmudi for making derogatory remarks about women.
11. Law and Order Concerns
The DMK was blamed for a rise in criminal activities, including murder, robbery, drug abuse, and sexual violence, which the resolution said had brought shame to Tamil Nadu.
12. Critique of Self-Promotion
The DMK was accused of prioritising self-promotion and photo ops over people’s welfare.
13. Condemnation of Terror Attack in Kashmir
The party condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, and expressed full support for the Union Government’s counter-terrorism efforts.
14. Support for BJP Alliance
A resolution formally endorsed the alliance with BJP, framing it as essential to defeat the anti-people DMK government.
15. Call for EPS as Future Chief Minister
The committee unanimously resolved to work towards reinstating EPS as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister in 2026, praising his leadership and legacy.
16. Caste Census Welcome
The party welcomed the Central Government’s announcement of a caste-based census during the upcoming population survey, noting AIADMK’s consistent advocacy on the issue.
The meeting underlined the AIADMK’s renewed focus on regaining power in 2026 and positioning itself as the key force against the DMK government.
